In the wake of the most successful season in franchise history, Memphis has nonetheless decided that what has widely been described as "philosophical differences" between the team's new owners and Hollins has necessitated a change on the bench.

Grizzlies assistant coach Dave Joerger, sources said, is the overwhelming favorite to succeed Hollins, who departs in the wake of a 56-win season and the franchise's first-ever trip to the Western Conference finals.

My Two Cents

Don't let your friends grow up to be NBA Head Coaches. Phil Jackson gets completely dissed by the Lakers b/c they think Nash will do better with D'Antoni. George Karl leads the Nuggets to Team Record 57 wins. Gone! Fired. Lionel Hollins leads his team to an Team Record of 56 wins and 1st ever conference finals. Vinnie Del Negro leads the Clippers to a Team Record 56 wins. Both gone! Spoelstra practically begs the NBA writers to NOT vote for him for Coach of the Year (b/c of the known JINX of losing your job soon after getting it). Note: Karl won Coach of the Year. And Yes, he lost his job. Jinx's are real! NBA is a rough league on coaches. Coaches are disposable and Players rule!
