But here’s something you’re not hearing much about: Tumblr’s users are almost universally unhappy with the news that the site might get sold to Yahoo. And they may let their fingers do the talking, and the walking.

The voices of reluctant acceptance (usually because of the aforementioned cash situation) or anything like positivity are few and far between. No outright enthusiasm.rrrr

My Two Cents

My how the world has changed. With the news that Tumblr may be snatched up by Yahoo! for over $1.1 Billion, the Tumblr users (in small pockets for now, maybe more) are showing distress and unhappiness about "their" platform being taken over by Yahoo! Now that brings up so many thoughts and ideas in my mind:

Does David Karp, founder/ceo of Tumblr really run the Tumblr ship or do his Users? Yes, it's a new world isn't it. If his Users revolt, then David is a willing or unwilling Steward / Ambassador for the Users? He better find out if his Tumblr users are loyal to his vision, which could include a sale to Yahoo! or Facebook or Microsoft or Google or Twitter or Apple? Or where ever! This wouldn't happen in the world of Evernote users. The loyalty in that realm is so much higher than the ephemeral world of social butterfly media.

The point is that Tumblr might be the first example of a billion dollar merger being thrown a serious monkey wrench b/c of discontent with whom the Buyer is. But this mutiny of users is wonderful! Stunningly wonderful b/c we as entrepreneurs and business owners are nothing without our customers. This is another powerful statement to this old adage being as true or more true today than ever before.
