This week saw a very public meltdown from Tinder’s Twitter handle @Tinder. Reacting to a Vanity Fair article in which the app was branded a originator of the “dating apocalypse”, Tinder tweeted a number of dubious facts, claiming that the app had led to a “shit ton” of marriages, had fostered “8bn connections” between users, and had even brought love to the hermit country of North Korea.
Tinder CEO Chris Payne has stepped down. The move follows a media maelstrom in which the dating app was accused of bringing on a “dating apocalypse”.
