I’m live blogging Launch Festival in San Francisco Design Center. Producer Jason Calacanis has taken the dais 90 minutes late, because of security measures for  Israeli President Shimon Perez.Apparently Calacanis was one of hundreds of attendees who was locked out by security for a period of time.  He’s here now and  just announced that Launch has raised $100 K to invest in companies selected from those presenting at the show.

from MyLanguage Labs a company that launched at Techcrunch Disrupt last year. It’s a real-time translator for your iPhone and one of my favorites from last year. They’ve added video message translation. One person speaks in English and the receiver hears it in his/her own language. This is extremely cool in my view, and takes a significant step toward  the Holy Grail of removing language as a barrier between people. Beta is available on the site. The demo spotlighted two people, speaking different languages who want to date. Judges hammered on use cases. Personally, I can think of hundreds in personal, business and topical applications. Vocre will supports 23 languages when it goes live.
